Each module runs 12 weeks and stands on its own. Start at the beginning of any one, and take the others as the year comes back around.

Discover your body

Children learn to read their own signals — hunger, tiredness, the feeling that comes before a big feeling — and start putting names to what's happening inside.

Grow your confidence

This module is about independence — reading social situations, choosing your own strategies, and using them where it counts: at school, on playdates, and at home.

frequently asked questions

Is group right for my child?

Groups are open to any child who would benefit from building regulation and social skills alongside peers. If you're not sure whether it's a fit, our intake team is happy to guide you to the best options for your child.

How is group different from individual therapy?

Group is where children practice being with other people — reading the room, taking turns, recovering when things don't go their way. Their individual goals will come up naturally along the way, but they aren't what group is built around. When a child has specific goals to work on, individual OT is where that happens best, and many families do both.

Can my child do group and individual therapy at the same time?

Yes, and many do. They work on different things and tend to reinforce each other.

What ages are the groups for?

Groups are available for children ages 2 and up. Each group spans a one-to-two-year age range — a 3–4 year old group, or a 5–6 year old group, for example — so children are working alongside peers at a similar developmental stage.

Age is our starting point, not the whole picture. Placement also considers your child's stage and what they'll get from the peers in the room.

My child is new to Play 2 Progress. Where do we start?

Complete the interest form and we'll be in touch to learn about your child. From there, we'll schedule bridge sessions — short, play-based visits with one of our occupational therapists that help us understand what your child is ready for and which group will suit them.

My child already works with a P2P therapist. Is the process different?

Yes, and it's simpler. Your child's therapist can recommend a group directly, and because they already know your child, we usually have what we need to make a placement. Our intake specialist will then reach out to coordinate the details.

If the group is led by a therapist your child hasn't worked with before, we may suggest a single bridge session so the two of them can get to know each other first — encouraged, but entirely your call.

How do you decide which group my child joins?

Placement comes out of the intake call and bridge session. We look at how your child plays, which skills would be most useful to build right now, and — just as important — which peers will bring out their best. With only five children in a group, composition matters enormously, and we take real care with it.

What if Play 2 Progress decides group isn't the right fit for my child?

We'll refund your deposit in full and talk through what would serve them better.

Why 12 weeks?

Groups work best when the same children show up together, week after week. That consistency is what lets a child build a real friendship, take a social risk, and recover from a hard moment in front of people who know them. A drop-in model can't do that. Committing to the full session is what makes the group a group.

Do we have to do all three modules, and in order?

Not at all. Each module stands on its own and you can take them in any order. Many children benefit from going through the curriculum more than once — repeating a module isn't starting over, and it's a common and valuable choice.

What happens if we miss a session?

We're not able to offer makeups or refunds for missed sessions, including for illness or travel. With only five children in a group, a missed week can't be recreated one-on-one. If your child misses a week, your take-home curriculum sheet covers what the group worked on so you can carry it into the week at home.

Do you take insurance?

We don't bill insurance directly, but we're glad to provide a superbill for your child's group sessions, which you can submit for potential reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so it's worth checking with your insurer about what they reimburse for group therapy.
