Recorded Monday, May 18, 2020
In our Parent Support Discussions, Play 2 Progress hosts experts in their fields to answer parents' questions live. This is a recording of Dr. Allie Ticktin's discussion with Director of Christopher Robin Preschool, Elizabeth De Roo, and former preschool teacher and stay-at-home mom Gabby Parker.
About Elizabeth de Roo: Elizabeth de Roo is the Director of Christopher Robin Preschool in Los Angeles. She is the daughter of Susan Huber and granddaughter of Vera Sandler, Christopher Robin’s founder. She represents third generation involvement in Christopher Robin Preschool. Elizabeth was a student at Christopher Robin as well as a summertime helper throughout her childhood.
After graduating from the University of California Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History, Elizabeth went on to study early childhood education at Cabrillo College, while also directing the Santa Cruz Museum’s Art Box, a touring art appreciation program for elementary school children. She later enrolled in San Francisco State’s Teaching Credential Program as she continued to teach preschool full time.
Upon completion of her credential, Elizabeth spent six years teaching third grade at Bay Farm Elementary in Alameda, California. Since 2003, Elizabeth has been teaching and co-directing at Christopher Robin Preschool. In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys cooking, reading, hiking, and spending time with her husband, Bryan, and daughter, Nola.
About Gabby Parker: Hi, I’m Gabby :) I live in Highland Park, Los Angeles with my husband, 15-month-old son Baldwin and puggle. I’m a stay at home mom and a former preschool teacher, and I love using my background in early childhood education to create activities for my toddler. I also serve on the MOMS Club Northeast LA chapter board. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my family, traveling and working out.
