FAQs about Camp:

How is this camp different from a recreational program?

Each day is designed to foster your child's growth and development in a way that traditional recreational programs can't match. Led by skilled occupational therapists (OTs), our camp is explicitly tailored to address your child's unique goals, ensuring personalized attention and care.

We understand that children may sometimes experience moments of dysregulation, and during these times, we focus on reinforcing emotional regulation skills rather than using punishment. Our approach emphasizes providing tailored support to help your child navigate challenging feelings, empowering them with practical tools to manage their emotions.

We prioritize dynamic peer-to-peer interactions, equipping children with the tools they need to navigate their social connections confidently. We aim to spark playfulness and foster open communication among peers, creating a vibrant environment where friendships can flourish and meaningful exchanges occur. We focus on initiating and sustaining group play, teamwork, play ideation, pretend play, competitiveness, and turn-taking.

Each day introduces a new social skill or topic, equipping your child with essential tools and strategies you can continue to use at home, at school, and throughout your family's lives. We'll provide daily session notes and constructive feedback so you stay informed about your child's progress and achievements. Join us for a purposeful journey that blends fun with focused learning and encourages emotional resilience!

Will OT Camp help my child to make friends and sustain peer relationships?

Yes, our program is specifically designed to help your child make friends and sustain peer relationships. We prioritize dynamic peer-to-peer interactions, which equip children with the necessary tools to navigate social connections with confidence. Our approach emphasizes playful engagement and open communication among peers, creating an environment where friendships can flourish.

Each day, we introduce new social skills that your child can practice not only during the camp but also at home and school. These skills include teamwork, initiating and sustaining group play, and turn-taking, all of which are essential for building and maintaining friendships. Additionally, our skilled occupational therapists provide personalized attention, ensuring that your child's unique needs are addressed, further supporting their ability to connect with others.

By encouraging emotional regulation and empowering children to navigate their feelings, we help them better understand and respond to social situations, leading to more meaningful interactions with their peers. Overall, our program fosters a vibrant space for kids to learn and grow together, enhancing their ability to develop and sustain lasting relationships.

My child has specific goals in OT, will this camp be the right fit for them?

We understand that each child has different goals they are working towards in OT. Each child interested in camp is carefully screened to ensure that this is the best fit for them to continue progressing toward those goals. Our team of OTs will recommend OT camp if it is the most beneficial for your child and connect you with other services if it is not.

My child needs a 1:1 do you offer that and is there a price difference?

We do have a select number of 1:1 aides (OT Doctoral Students) available each week of camp. Our screening team will work with you to ensure that we can accommodate the specific week you are interested in. There is no additional cost for a 1:1 aide.

My child has their own 1:1 aide do you allow outside aides to come to camp?

Any outside aides must meet specific conditions in order to attend. Please contact us to discuss further.
